Nagaimo - Sticky Yam

A sticky yam usually known as "mountain medicine" in Chinese is now availabel as a fresh vegetable. For thousands years, Chinese eat it as a herb and remedy only when doctor prescribes for a weak or fatigue patient. Now you can have this sticky herb in the 99 Ranch Market, Las Vegas store.

Not only having a lot of dietary fiber, nagaimo, or simply naga, also contains potassium, diastase and mucin, which makes this herb a sticky and tasty yam. The diastase is a group of enzymes that catalyses the breakdown of starch into glucose. Nagaimo contains 3 times more diastase than daikon, or raddish, so that it helps in the digestion of naga itself and the food goes with it. It also help prevent the development of gastric ulcer and gastritis.

The high concentration of potassium in naga makes this yam a unique tool to help excrete extra salt from your body and maintain a proper level of salt to prevent high blood pressure.

We always say, why not enjoy a good food instead of of looking for medicine if you can. So, enjoy nagaimo as part of your normal daily diet. And have a healty and happy lefe.
